The Beginnings
When I started developing the principles that would become the foundation for The Ultimate Athlete Project, I was in pretty bad shape. I was old (not truly, I just felt that way). I was slightly overweight and injury-prone. I was pretty much on the way out as far as playing competitive ultimate was concerned.
I wasn’t ready to retire without giving it one more shot. But to compete athletically with younger players, I knew I needed to do things differently. I needed to be really focused. So I started researching the question, “How to professional athletes train?” It turned out that a lot of what I thought I knew, a lot of what I had learned while getting a degree in kinesiology, and a lot of what other players were doing, were NOT the best ways of training.
I trusted what I read and researched even though some of it seemed counter-intuitive. My body responded and the results I got far exceeded my expectations. I made the team I was trying out for and felt awesome. Surprisingly, I became a much better athlete in my thirties than I ever was in my twenties.
A few years later, I created the UAP so that other players could tap into their unused athletic potential and not waste their youth on crappy programming as I did.
By now the UAP programming has been tested by hundreds of athletes. Pro players, nationals contenders, and world champions have all seen athletic gains that transfer to on-field performance.
When you join the UAP you get access to programming that has been battle-tested. Even better, you get to join a community that includes these elite players and over 600 athletes from all over the world who, just like you, want to improve their athletic performance.
How Are You Beginning?
the UAP will be opening soon. A few of you have been emailing me to tell me you’re excited to start. Thanks! I love hearing from you guys!
Regardless of where you are on the spectrum of out-of-shape to the full-blown-athlete, I want you to start taking steps NOW to get ready. My experience of going from out of shape to happy and athlete will remain one of the best journeys of my life. That journey started with one workout, and then another. An accumulation of good habits over a long period of time.
If you are not feeling like the athlete you want to be right now, it’s okay. I’ve been there.
Right now I want you to think of just one thing you can do this week to get started on your journey. Start getting to bed a decent hour. Go to the grocery store and buy yourself some healthy protein and vegetables. Or, you can even get started with a slice of the UAP by adding this simple dynamic warm up to the beginning of your current workouts. Even if you just take a break from your desk to do part 2 of the warmup every day, that’s a step in the right direction.
In the UAP we are relentlessly devoted to the long term plan. That is why the UAP is only open at certain times of the year. We start small and build you slowly, workout by workout, into an indestructible athlete. The journey starts with you choosing one thing to focus on this week.
Now, Get at it!
